Bird Watching
Quartermaster Harbor was designated by the National Audubon Society as an Important Bird Area in 2000, most notably for its importance as overwintering habitat for thousands of Western Grebe. Roughly 8 to 10 percent of all Western Grebe found in Washington make their way to the harbor to feed on fish and ride out the winter weather.
